How to use it

Shut the PC down completely (hold Shift while clicking Shut down, so Fast Startup does not skip the key).
Press the power button.
Immediately tap F2 (or Fn+F2) about twice a second until the BIOS opens. For the boot menu, tap F12 (or Fn+F12) instead.

Many IdeaPad and Yoga laptops have a small Novo button or pinhole on the side: press it with the laptop off to get a menu with BIOS Setup and Boot Menu.

If F2 does nothing, try Fn+F2: function keys may be set to media keys.

Works on every Windows PC: start the BIOS from Windows

In Windows, open Settings > System > Recovery.

Next to Advanced startup, click Restart now.

Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > UEFI Firmware Settings > Restart.

The PC restarts straight into the BIOS.

Use this when the key does not work. Fast Startup often makes Windows boot too quickly to catch the key.
